Glasses can be a confusing purchase. There's a plethora of options across optical stores, frame styles, and lens options, plus a lot of conflicting marketing online. As an independent practice with no particular ties to any supplier, I can access almost any product on the market, and I'll give you my honest opinion on what's actually necessary rather than pushing you towards unnecessary spending. I'm a glasses and contact lens wearer myself, so I understand what it's like to live in them every day.
My personal priorities when choosing glasses are:
- Comfort of the frame (does it actually fit well)
- Style (suits your personality)
- Durability (avoiding fragile styles and materials)
- Weight of the lenses (suitable to your prescription)
- Practicality (photochromatic, polarised, and so on)
- Pricing (reasonable, without unnecessary extras)
